Battambang is located in the northwestern part of the country, by the Sangrek River. City’s attractions are focused on three different levels: historical temples, local culture, and nature and surroundings. Due to the partial isolation of the city, the area is not as full of tourists, so take advantage of this and try to benefit from a quiet vacation in an authentically exotic setting. Apart from the Central Plains, which carry their own specific charm, wildlife, and traditions, Phnom Penh itself has enough attractions even for a long vacation. You’ll have to split your time between visiting historical sites, spending time in local wats, or having cocktails in many of the city’s superb bars and clubs. In the south coast there are three types of attractions: the beautiful white beaches, the tropical islands and the Khmer local culture. Apart from all these, there are many places you can visit in here, from the superb fishing villages located in the area to Ream National Park. However, the rule stands: in Sihanoukville, the ocean is the king of attractions. Check out our travel guides about Sihanoukville & The South Coast!
